70% SCALE VOETSAK CONTROL LINE RACER

Designed way back in the 1940s, the Voetsak was the very first Control Model displayed in the United Kingdom.

When Ron Moulton returned from South Africa after the war in 1946, he had already designed the “ Voetsak”. The word translated means “ bugger off” or words to that effect.

After the ban on I.C powered models throughout the war and with control line not even being flown in the U.K. until Ron arrived with his big 60 petrol engined model, his demonstrations up and down the country drew thousands of spectators who were hungry for some peacetime excitement. Reportedly, crowds of over 5000 would turn up plus TV and radio to film and report on his sensational model flying on lines and creating a major new form of aeromodelling.

Race Competition Information

Steve Betney has been running at least three Voetsak Racing competitions per year for the last 15 years as a tribute to the great man, Ron Moulton.

Upon Ron’s passing his son Jonathan and daughter Dina have been sponsoring and attending these competitions each year although the concern was that with the engines becoming so rare (and difficult to keep running) the competition would have to cease.

Julio Isidro envisaged a smaller scale replica of the Voetsak, powered with the modest output of the AM Diesel engine and brought it as a surprise to everyone at the hugely popular and well attended SAM35 Retro Fest.

The model was an instant sensation as it flew so well.

Now named Tribute Voetsak, the event could continue and the Moulton family could ensure their famous father's name could be continued to be honoured each year.

Remeber, this is THE control line model which started off the whole U.K. movement!

This new scaled Voetsak's smaller size and non specialist engine, opens up the competition to youngsters and the young at heart.

If you would like to build a Voetsak racer of your own, there will be plenty of events where you can fly yours against other Voetsaks over the coming years.

Shipping

UK SHIPPING

Most orders are shipped via Royal Mail’s Tracked 48 service.

For larger or heavier orders, we use UKMail/DHL to deliver your package on a Next Working Day service.

Shipping is free to UK Mainland addresses for orders over £30.00, otherwise we charge £6.00 for Royal Mail Tracked 48 parcels and £12.00 for UKMail/DHL Nest Working Day.

INTERNATIONAL SHIPPING

Smaller items

Items that fit within Royal Mail International Tracked Medium Parcel parameters (59cm x 17cm x 15cm weighing less than 2kg) can be sent to most countries outside the UK.

For example up to 3 of our smaller 18” wingspan kits can fit into one of these parcels.

A parcel like this currently costs around £14 to Europe and around £18 to send to the USA and will take up to 3 weeks to arrive. This is because Royal Mail hands over the parcel to the local Post Office service for your country who have to clear it through customs and then deliver it to you.

The Royal Mail tracking code also transfers over to the tracking for your country’s postal service.

Larger items

For items that do not fit within Royal Mail International Tracked Medium Parcel parameters, we use standard international couriers such as DHL, FedEx and UPS.

These companies use something called volumetric weights to calculate the cost of shipping.

For example, a Balsa Basics RC bundle kit that measures 102cm x 34cm x 16cm and weighs 2.5 kg is actually calculated at 14kg!

This makes these very expensive to send outside the UK - a large kit can cost nearly £40 to send to France.
