VMC CENTURION
Inspired by the Keil Kraft Senator, the rubber-powered, free-flight VMC Centurion is a modern take on a timeless classic.
Designer Peter Sanders has taken all of the best bits of the Senator and tweaked them to create a traditional "stick & tissue" model that flies beautifully under rubber power and then glides superbly at the end of the power run.
The 31.2 inch (818mm) wingspan makes the kit an easy fit on your workbench or kitchen table and the detachable wing makes it a doddle to transport to the flying field.
Supplied with a 9.5" plastic free-wheeling prop and a distinctive single-wheeled undercart that harks back to its Senator inspiration, the Centurion looks so fabulously "retro" in the air.
What isn't retro is the fact that the model has been designed using the latest CAD software with laser cut parts giving accurate, tight-fitting joints and perfectly identical wing and tail ribs. In addition, rather than you having to carve a nose from a single balsa block, this kit is supplied with a series of laser cut balsa laminations that simply glue together and sand down to form a much more accurate nose block.
As usual with our full kits, everything you need for the model is in the box, including copious FAI tan flight rubber, red and yellow coloured domestic tissue, all stripwood and acetate for the cabin. We've even thrown in a bottle of our Easy Sand wood glue!

UK SHIPPING
Most orders are shipped via Royal Mail’s Tracked 48 service.
For larger or heavier orders, we use UKMail/DHL to deliver your package on a Next Working Day service.
Shipping is free to UK Mainland addresses for orders over £30.00, otherwise we charge £6.00 for Royal Mail Tracked 48 parcels and £12.00 for UKMail/DHL Nest Working Day.
INTERNATIONAL SHIPPING
Smaller items
Items that fit within Royal Mail International Tracked Medium Parcel parameters (59cm x 17cm x 15cm weighing less than 2kg) can be sent to most countries outside the UK.
For example up to 3 of our smaller 18” wingspan kits can fit into one of these parcels.
A parcel like this currently costs around £14 to Europe and around £18 to send to the USA and will take up to 3 weeks to arrive. This is because Royal Mail hands over the parcel to the local Post Office service for your country who have to clear it through customs and then deliver it to you.
The Royal Mail tracking code also transfers over to the tracking for your country’s postal service.
Larger items
For items that do not fit within Royal Mail International Tracked Medium Parcel parameters, we use standard international couriers such as DHL, FedEx and UPS.
These companies use something called volumetric weights to calculate the cost of shipping.
For example, a Balsa Basics RC bundle kit that measures 102cm x 34cm x 16cm and weighs 2.5 kg is actually calculated at 14kg!
This makes these very expensive to send outside the UK - a large kit can cost nearly £40 to send to France.
PRODUCT REVIEWS
I just received my Centurion. Everything was in order and well packaged as requested. Sadly the propeller is awful. It’s cheap and nasty. I’ve bought several kits from you in the past. This is a definite step down. It’s flimsy and covered in leftover residue from moulding. The plastic hub is where the clutch is to engage is minuscule and weak looking. Please include parts that do the model and the time spent on building it justice. Sincerely William
