The Perfect 'Build-it-yourself' Plane for Beginners
The Cub is an ideal trainer. Being a 3-channel aircraft, you can develop your skills from the ground up. You can build this aircraft from start to finish in a matter of hours (although you can take your time sanding, detailing and finishing). Chunky components result in a sturdy airframe that is intuitive to assemble.
In terms of flying, the Balsa Cub's predictable characteristics and auto-pilot like handling makes it incredibly easy to learn on! It almost flies itself meaning you need only use small inputs on the controls to point the aircraft in the right direction. Most of the time the Cub is happiest cruising along at minimum throttle, however, it can also perform basic aerobatics such as loops and wingovers. Flight times with the recommended battery can be up to 20 minutes on calm days. With a large 1000mm wingspan, you’ll also be able to take on windier conditions. Even if you are an expert builder and pilot, this is a great aircraft to keep in your squadron.
Build It with Video Instructions
Unlike many of our other more complicated kits, the Balsa Basics Cub doesn't need to be built over a plan and can be constructed on a normal sized table with some basic tools. All you need is to follow this video along step-by-step.

Electronics Power Pack
This plane is designed to work with our standard power electronics which includes brushless motor, Electronic Speed Controller (ESC), servos and more.
Battery and Charger
The pack comes with a 3s LiPo battery that will provide you with over 15 minutes of flying and a quality balance charger that is easy to use. Simply plug in the battery to start charging.
Transmitter Set
We're providing you with a fantastic 8 channel (yes 8!) entry level radio with plenty of features. It's simple but it can grow with you. Not only do you get a transmitter, you also get a receiver along with it.
Covering
To finish your Cub, you'll need to apply covering. We've included a roll of polyester heat shrink covering in the kit for a quick and easy finishing process. You can of course use alternative coverings if you prefer.
Wheels
This kit comes with a pair of quality 2.5" semi-pneumatic rubber wheels for smooth take-offs and easy landings.
