A FEARSOME FIGHTER MADE FUN TO BUILD

The Balsa Basics BF-109 is an intermediate level flyer that is easy to build and friendly to fly.

Unlike other warbird models out there, this one has a very light wing-loading and gentle characteristics.

Although not for beginner pilots (for that see the Balsa Basics Cub), this would make for a great first warbird.

Like the real steel, the Balsa Basics Messerschmitt BF-109 is quick, clean and responsive in the air.

Easy to Build

We have designed this model to go together quickly and with minimum fuss. Precision laser cut parts fit together to form the tapered wing of the 109 with a spar and doublers cleverly sandwiching each wing rib.

Likewise, the fuselage is built up using self-jigging components that interlock to form the nose and cockpit of the aircraft.

Solid balsa fuselage sides and more formers bring the tail together to capture that iconic 109 feel in a simple yet effective way.

More Detailed Than You Might Think

This fun-scale model of the BF-109 packs in just the right amount of detail: exhaust stacks, structural tail supports, vacuum-formed plastic canopy, self-adhesive markings and prop spinner are included as standard.

Easy Battery Access

There’s plenty of room in the battery compartment for a 3s LiPo battery up to a 2200 (which is the recommended size for this model).

Belly Lander

To do away with complex and fragile retracts, the Balsa Basics BF-109 is a belly lander. A quick underarm launch and you’re up in the air with landings over grass in a field or park a cinch.

UK SHIPPING

Most orders are shipped via Royal Mail’s Tracked 48 service.

For larger or heavier orders, we use UKMail/DHL to deliver your package on a Next Working Day service.

Shipping is free to UK Mainland addresses for orders over £30.00, otherwise we charge £6.00 for Royal Mail Tracked 48 parcels and £12.00 for UKMail/DHL Nest Working Day.

INTERNATIONAL SHIPPING

Smaller items

Items that fit within Royal Mail International Tracked Medium Parcel parameters (59cm x 17cm x 15cm weighing less than 2kg) can be sent to most countries outside the UK.

For example up to 3 of our smaller 18” wingspan kits can fit into one of these parcels.

A parcel like this currently costs around £14 to Europe and around £18 to send to the USA and will take up to 3 weeks to arrive. This is because Royal Mail hands over the parcel to the local Post Office service for your country who have to clear it through customs and then deliver it to you.

The Royal Mail tracking code also transfers over to the tracking for your country’s postal service.

Larger items

For items that do not fit within Royal Mail International Tracked Medium Parcel parameters, we use standard international couriers such as DHL, FedEx and UPS.

These companies use something called volumetric weights to calculate the cost of shipping.

For example, a Balsa Basics RC bundle kit that measures 102cm x 34cm x 16cm and weighs 2.5 kg is actually calculated at 14kg!

This makes these very expensive to send outside the UK - a large kit can cost nearly £40 to send to France.

PRODUCT REVIEWS

Chris Daly

Unfortunately some of bits were missing; only discovered this as I was building the fuselage. Considering the cost of the kit, I would hope that a kit list is included so you check off the items before starting the build. Overall a nice kit, but unable to finish, unless I buy another to supplement the missing parts. Very disappointed
