The BV-215 was an advanced jet night-fighter designed in Germany towards the end of WWII. Prototypes were ordered, but the war ended shortly after the orders were placed and so no flying aircraft were produced.

  • Wingspan:18" (45.7 cm)
  • Power system: Jetex; free-flight
  • Designed by: Steve Bage and Richard Crossley
  • Difficulty: Expert

This kit is a laser-cut version of a design by Steve Bage and Richard Crossley, designed to be powered by a Rapier motor. Construction of the model from this kit uses the traditional method of "stick and tissue", that consists of a built up balsa wood skeleton (framework), covered with a tissue skin. The balsa frameworks are built over a plan that is printed at the exact scale of the model, which is in essence a real engineering drawing.

Rapier jet motors from the Czech Republic may be available at model aircraft shows but their supply is unreliable. Some modellers have had success with electric ducted fans (EDF) but again supply can be tricky. Designed for free flight means just that - once the model is launched, it is on its own. It must follow a predetermined flight path established when the model is initially adjusted for flight or "trimmed".

This type of traditional building technique and flying requires a degree of patience and skill, but is extremely rewarding.

This is a kit for experienced modellers only and has no instructions

Great kit and design. Converted to EDF with an 18mm fan from Derek Knight. Using the original trough the fan fits perfectly. A quick glide check for balance and chime her up! Flew beautifully with a 15 second motor run very stable and excellent glide. Looks stunning in the air and you can make up your own paint scheme and detail to your hearts content. 100% recommende.
